Why air transport?

Air transport is the youngest and fastest growing branch of transport in the world. Its beginnings date back to the middle of the last century, when after World War II, airplanes began to be used for international, commercial transport of goods. Since then, this form of forwarding has recorded the greatest growth worldwide, slowly replacing sea and rail freight.

Why does this happen? Several factors are responsible for this condition.

First of all, accessibility. The network of domestic airlines currently covers most developed countries, so there is no problem with sending goods even to the most exotic places on the globe. Then there are: short transport times of goods, reliability and safety of cargo transported by air. These features allow for stable maintenance of the global chain and quick delivery of necessary elements or products, which in turn perfectly responds to the growing e-commerce market and supporting the global trade system. Today, it is estimated that – despite the fact that air cargo is responsible for only 1% of world transport – the value of goods transported on board already constitutes 35% of the value of global trade.

Is air freight for you?

Choosing the right method of transport may seem difficult. Each form of transport: sea, rail, road and air has its own characteristics. Air freight is primarily fast (air freight usually allows for the delivery of cargo within 4-7 days) and high security of shipments. Therefore, it is especially recommended for people who want to transport goods that require a short delivery time, such as food or pharmaceuticals. Air transport is also ideal for transporting valuables (e.g. jewellery, diplomatic shipments), just-in-time parts or FMCG products. Unfortunately, it is necessary to remember about the limitations, the main ones being the dimensions and weight of the shipments.

That is why it is best to always consult the forwarding process with your forwarding partner. If they are reliable and know what they are doing, they will know how to advise you.
